Mark’s leadership abilities and considerable business experience, along with his strong track record of success as a CEO, made him an excellent candidate for the role. Mark has demonstrated throughout his career the ability to work successfully in dynamic environments across various industries, designing and executing strategies that have resulted in impressive value creation for stakeholders.
Mark has significant cannabis industry experience, including having recently been the Chief Strategy Officer of Newstrike Brands (Up Cannabis), a large licensed producer that was recently sold to Hexo Corp. in a $354 million transaction. Mark has also been the CEO of 5 technology companies, a partner at KPMG, and a partner at the pre-eminent Canadian law firm Stikeman Elliott. He has been a director of numerous private and public companies and not-for-profit organizations. He currently sits on the board of Outward Bound Canada and was previously Chair of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) Toronto Chapter.
Mr. Burton holds a B.Sc. Life Sciences (with Honours) from Queen’s University and obtained his law degree (LL.B.) (with Distinction) from Western University.
CFO / COO
Mr. Cina is a CPA, CA and brings valuable experience in regulated industries, packaged goods, manufacturing and distribution to Tidal. Prior to Tidal, he was the VP of Financial Planning and Controlling at Molson Coors Brewing. Prior to Molson, Mr. Cina served in leadership roles at Canwest, RR Donnelley, Alectra and Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting.
Mr. Cina holds a Bachelors of Commerce from York University and is a member of the CPA Association.
VP, Growing Operations & Infrastructure
Darren is a horticulturist and the former owner and operator of Mayfield Gardens and Landscape Inc. Since graduating from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College he has focused his career on using science-based approaches to produce high-quality agricultural products.
VP, Sales and Product Development
Erik Lapointe is the Vice-President of Sales and Product Development at Tidal Health Solutions. After spending nearly a decade working in the operations of leading hospitality institutions, including Fairmont and Ritz Carlton, Erik co-founded and developed a specialized beverage company focused on aiding patients in Health Canada’s ACMPR medical cannabis market. Erik remains an active member of the Ivey Business School (MBA’ 17), and the University of Guelph (B.Comm’12) societies.
Jonathan Wener, C.M.
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Wener is a highly regarded business leader and an accomplished entrepreneur with extensive experience in real estate, technology, biotechnology and recycling. Since founding Montréal-based, Canderel Group in 1975, the company has become a national innovator in real estate investment, development and management with over $11 billion in property transactions and offices in major cities across Canada. Recognized as an outstanding team builder and true visionary, Mr. Wener is a celebrated philanthropist and has been honoured with the Order of Canada, the Order of Montréal, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Samuel Bronfman medal.
Mr. Cabigon has more than 10 years of senior management experience. Mr. Cabigon is the COO of Radient technologies and was the VP and GM of a private equity-backed business that ultimately sold, generating a significant return for shareholders. He was also previously Managing Partner of Foundation Equity, a venture capital firm. Mr. Cabigon holds a B.Comm from the University of Alberta
Mr. Flicker is the CEO of the Wener Family Office, overseeing the firm’s investment portfolio, management team, strategic direction and stakeholder relations. Previously he was a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, focusing on commercial real estate and corporate law.
Mr. MacGillivary is the former President and CEO of Gay Lea Foods, a large Canadian dairy co-operative. Prior to his 12 years with Gay Lea Foods, he held leadership roles with a variety of private and public companies, including Saputo, Agrifoods, Baxter Foods and Nestle.
